Our vision is to provide a sustainable platform to support young people as they mature into effective and successful leaders. Through our peer learning and interactive training sessions, The African Shelter Young Leaders Platform supports young people as they train to become effective leaders in their community. Through this initiative, young people are empowered and encouraged to grow their leadership qualities and skills as they prepare for future leadership.

Our founders came to observe that majority of these young people who exhibit and exercise leadership qualities right from their early age are not encouraged, not supported and not nurtured into maturity. Most of them lose their leadership qualities soon after their first leadership exposure for so many reasons including the negative attitudes of the senior leaders. For some, it is the pressures and cares of life that bury the leadership instinct in them and turn them into what they are not. Some of the senior leaders we have today living like a chickens in their adult lives are supposed to soar high like eagles because that is what they were originally born to be, but due to conformity, abuse, prolonged neglect, deprivation and starvation, they ended up as chickens. What a tragedy?
